Zuzel + Erik 11.21.09

Zuzel and Erik had a destination ceremony, they tied the knot in Jamaica with some of their close family and friends and hosted their reception back home in NJ aboard the Royal Princess Yacht.

The beautiful day view aboard the Royal Princess Yacht.

The Reception set up;
Playing cards served as escort cards; directing guests to their dinner table at the lower level of the Yacht.

Cake was yummy and I since I adore puppies, I absolutely loved their cake topper. They wanted to incorporate their two Westies in their day so they had Bride and Groom and two Westies made out of clay!
We provided a "Drink-up" themed Candy Buffet right by the Bar area in the upper-level of the Yacht. The color scheme was Red, we utilized all sizes and shapes of Martini, Champagne, Margarita glasses filled with both Zuzel's and Eriks' favorite sweets.

Spice Up Your Wedding Bouquet...

An up and coming trend in wedding bouquets is adding new and exciting things to your bouquet such as feathers. These delicate trimmings are available in many colors and will bring to life your bouquet of flowers in a soft and subtle and even glammy way. And if you want a highly unusual and incredibly dramatic wedding bouquet, why not?... try peacock feathers!
Utilizing feathers for a bouquet was very popular at the turn of the century during the Victorian era. They were also popular items in bouquets in the late 1930s and the early 1940s. At one point, however, peacock feathers were considered to be bad luck, so they fell out of the picture until the 1980s when they were once again seen in centerpieces and floral bouquets.
Here are a few of my favorite bouquets...
This one screams out loud Hollywood Glam.
Black Magic Roses, Black Callas and Fern curls all complemented by Black Feathers

Roses are classic and no matter how you tie them together they always seem to have that elegant and romantic appeal. Here tied with Ostrich feathers it denotes a rich vintage feel.

I love the simple contrast and mix in this bouquet.
Brown Cymbidum Orchids, Apple Cymbidium Orchids, Roses and soft white feathers.
And what looks like an antique brooch gives it the final touch!

Which bouquet is your favorite? And what exciting piece did you or are you including in your bouquet?

Sharon + Fred 11.15.09

This one is long overdue...
A month ago Rebecca and I were off to The Estate at Florentine Gardens in Rivervale, NJ for Sharon and Fred's beautiful wedding.
Sharon and Fred tied the knot at the gardens by the gazebo and the weather was just wonderful.

We created a Candy Buffet Display designed to complement their wedding colors and scheme; Black & White, Pink & Polka Dots.

Since she absolutely loves candy, Sharon wanted a fun, tempting, elegant and girly display. So we opted for a mix of elegant style, fun shaped and apothecary jars with lids. The bride and groom's selection of candy was colorful, fun and yummy. Their selection included some of their most favorite sweets and it made for a fun candy display.

It was a great time and we were happy to work once again with our friends Mary, mario and Marco at Touch of Class who provided both entertainment and photobooth. And the great Sharon Curia who documented the day through the magic of her lens.

Superstitions...

Saturday is the unluckiest wedding day, according to English folklore.
Funny -- it's the most popular day of the week to marry!
Many superstitions began in ancient times when betrothed couples were believed to be particularly vulnerable to bad luck and evil spirits.

These beliefs resulted in an endless number of rituals, traditions and superstitious practices that are still followed around the world today. Other customs originated in myth and folklore; and their meanings have been long lost and forgotten over the years.
Some are commonplace, such as the bride not being seen in her wedding dress by the groom before the ceremony, others are unique and vary widely between cultures.

Either way, it seems as if it might be prudent for the bride and groom to be very careful to not provoke any nearby malevolent spirits and to surround themselves with good luck...
Should you be superstitious on your wedding day? Why not? I find them rather fun.
Here's a fun wedding superstition .
Married in white, you have chosen all right.
Married in green, ashamed to be seen.
Married in red, you will wish yourself dead.
Married in blue, you will always be true.
Married in yellow, ashamed of your fellow.
Married in black, you will wish yourself back.
Married in pink, your spirits will sink.

Do you have or know of any wedding superstitions...please share?

Happy Planning!
